What are Operational Groups?

The Operational Groups, key players in the implementation of the EIP-Agri (European Innovation Partnership for Productive and Sustainable Agriculture), are one of the key tools in the implementation of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC) 2023-2027 to boost innovation in the agri-food and forestry sector at European level. It is the grouping of agents of different profiles with common interests, such as farmers, livestock farmers, companies, and research or training and dissemination centres, who join together to launch an innovation project with the aim of providing a joint, multi-sectoral response to a problem or need.

By means of the Resolution of 5 August 2024, of the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund, O. A. (FEGA), which calls for aid for the granting of subsidies for the implementation of innovation projects of general interest by supra-regional operational groups of the European Association for Innovation in Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (AEI-AGRI), in the framework of the Strategic Plan of the CAP in Spain (PEPAC), called in advance in 2023, the operational group “Optimisation of Olive Growing through Technological and Aerobiological Analysis” (OLIVITECH) with a total budget of 551,196.27€ receives a grant of 543,206.47€, co-funded at 80% by the European Commission and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 20% by funds from the General State Administration, as established in Royal Decree 169/2018, of 23 March.

The Directorate-General for Rural Development, Innovation and Forestry Policy is the managing authority responsible for the implementation of the corresponding EAFRD and national support.
